Netflix extraction Honest review –
What’s up everybody today we have a brand new film to review and the reason why we have a new film it’s because it we’re talking about a Netflix production so we’re going to be reviewing extraction this will be a none spoiler review just my overall thoughts and perhaps you can make a decision with this is a film for you or not so anyways let’s get started.
So this film is featuring Chris Hemsworth and not only that he also produced the film and the stories by the Russo brothers.
So you can see a very appealing packaged over there. I mean we know the Russo brothers really delivered at the end of the Marvel Universe and I was really excited to watch this also I’ve been following Chris and he’s been posting a lot of behind the scenes I was like this looks very exciting and I gotta say first reaction right off the bat I don’t think it’s a perfect film but it definitely delivered.
If you are a big action fan I think there’s no way you’re not gonna like this film you know the action it’s brilliant it’s definitely delivered I could say it’s kind of in a level of John wick almost there you know it’s really good well rehearsed that the fights are very realistic.
I totally believed it so anyway so this film the name itself already tells you a little bit of what it is about it’s called extraction.
because they need to extract someone that was kidnapped which is a boy and they get Chris Hemsworth to do that so he’s kind of a man mercenary well-trained mercenary and he’s pretty good at his job.
but the job is pretty difficult because the person that he needs to extract you know he is the son of a gangster as well so you can pretty imagine the mass of their in so without spoiling anything away I’m gonna really talk about how impressed I was with this film and then I’m gonna tell you the things that didn’t quite work for me overall.
I think it has a very good story it has really comparing characters I was really there with them and but I think the outstanding thing in this film are the action scenes it was brilliant like there’s a very there’s a lot of long takes long takes are really hard to do.
where you can see that they it was really well rafting was very realistic there’s this one crazy long take where you have like a truck blowing up and then the cameras going and people are fighting then the chemicals inside the car.
I was like wow this is crazy but this movies just is not just action there it gives you time to breathe sometimes in which is what I really like because I love action.
probably know that but I also love those films that it’s not just stupid dumb action it has a story give us times to breed and this is what I really liked about this film because sometimes the action is very intense and then he gives you time to breathe and you go okay I can breathe now rip it with the character so you have those moments and I thought that was really good.
so I didn’t think the film suffered in pacing had a really great pacing I loved the editing like I said the action scenes are intense and really there’s a scene where there’s a lot of shooting right and the camera is kind of behind Chris so it’s over his shoulder and he feels like a video game because he’s just like boom boom boom and you feel like they tense .
All like it felt like I was playing a video game and it was just really cool to be on Chris Hemsworth side. I’m just gonna say that so I think that this like I said has a really compelling story it’s not just the fun entertainment it’s not just like things blowing I really enjoyed it.
I think the acting was pretty good now along with the cast we also have David Harbor here which I didn’t know he was in this film so that was kind of surprised his role is very small but he’s there and the cast is predominantly Indian. Which is a great thing because this film takes place in India and I believe they shot it there as well.
now for the critics out there I know that some of the critics are gonna be saying that this time is problematic because you know it’s another case of the white hero and bla bla bla bla bla and you know that’s the kind of reviews we have.
Nowadays people are not really concerned about the story but you know it has a really good balance in this film you know I’m not I’m not gonna say Chris is not the only one that shines there’s also another person and that really delivers very tense Leon action scene and he is an Indian actor which is this guy I put his picture over here I don’t a butcher his name but he was absolutely awesome just like on powered Chris and you know it was a really good really good great action film.
now the little bit of complaints that I have not really complaints for like because I watch a lot of films there’s a lot of things that I could see it coming so when you got we got to do towards the end I wasn’t completely surprised certain things.
I was like oh I knew this was going to happen and this to me is a little bit of a disappointment when that happens because of the guy I wish it surprised me but even though there were some twists that I did not see it coming which is good but there are some tropes that in all action films. are there you know it’s just part of the formula so these things are existent so like I said it’s not a perfect film but it’s a great pastime it’s a great entertainment I would give this film out of a ten eight and a half like it’s really above our very average I’m very impressed.
I think Chris I’ve never seen him doing this level of fighting because before I know we see him as poor he has superpowers he’s kind of a God so it’s a different style here is more like really like man on and that’s really about physical ability and I was like man it was like it was very realistic and I’m pretty sure he that he’s done a lot of his own stunts I was very impressed.
I think everyone is trying to become Tom Cruise now so anyways guys that those are my overall thoughts like I said without any spoilers I definitely recommend like if you are you know looking for something entertaining to watch if you are a fan of action films this is a great option.
obviously there’s a lot of blood involved a lot of violence so if this I wouldn’t say this is very kid-friendly I would say like a 12 your year old like a 10 even 10 your worlds you should be fine but not little kids because it’s violent you know.
There’s a lot of blood but it was intense and I’m really happy that I took the time to watch this film and Wow Netflix is really doing a great job in producing this films but anyway guys those are my overall thoughts.
Things not shown which keeps us puzzled:
- How was kid kidnapped from Mumbai to Dhaka?
- Drug lord’s account is frozen and also hes broke,no cash (Is it a joke, thats how cartels work😲, paying tax). Why would one risk to kidnap such guy’s kid 🤦?
- Kris got ditched by friend for 10Mn. Why would he have sucha friend?
- Farahani ,a team lead without proper coordination. All scatters & keep firing randomly.
- bodyguard in India must have done his work well instead of complicating things ,yeah he too dies in mission rescuing.
- Bodyguard charter – he himself was having now clue what’s his role., He shows up and shoots everybody including Kris 😺. Later allies with Kris in mission…….!!!!! Seriously !!!!!!!
- climax – Kris shows himself and keeps us puzzled ,how on earth he was alive after getting shot on neck, puked load of blood and fell from high bridge.
The movie has several grey spots. But don’t heed much keep your consciousness and questioning aside. It’s loaded with good action sequence. And yeah it’s one timer 😉
After reading all the criticism against “Extraction”, i felt compelled to borrow a password and watch it on Netflix and because of all the criticism the movie got, i am almost intimated to admit it, but i actually liked it! And i liked it quite a lot for many reasons. There were a few things i also felt could be done better. Will list both:
Could be done better:
- shoot a few scenes in the nicer parts of Dhaka or show flashes of that and Hatirjheel area etc…
- get a few Bangladeshi actors to play a few key roles, even if they would need to go to India to shoot their portions.
- get Bangladeshi people to voice over and dub the lines at least, to make the Bangla sound better.
- slightly less use of yellow filter.
What i liked:
- simple story line…nothing complex
- chris Hemsworth’s emotional acting and the boys acting
- exceptionally good realistic believable fight scenes
- and the very fact that Dhaka was chosen as the key location for one of the biggest Hollywood movies of the year
- chris Hemsworth speaking Bangla
- very well paced. Fast moving. No dull moments. But at the same time, they gave pauses between action bits at right places, cause some movies make the action boring as well .
Some counter arguments to the general criticisms:
- That Dhaka was shown as a miserable city
- Counter point: actually they were trying to show the older part of the city, and that part and demra and Kamrangir char area is actually like this
- that this was an insult for our country: counterpoint: not so. Think of how they always show Bangkok and Hong Kong as crime cities. And when they show Istanbul, they always show the Big Bazaar area and old Istanbul. When they show European cities in action movies, they always show older parts and narrow alleys. This was no different. This is a start. Hopefully we can become a movie shoot location in future if we can give the right facilities.
- kids don’t carry guns: my point>> this was a bit too much, but honestly the religious extremists, if not drug lords, were training kids too so there is some realism to it.
Pretty pretty good movie. I think we should appreciate Dhaka as a name will become better known internationally. This had a bit of the same effect that Slumdog Millionaire had on reputation of Mumbai. Depends on how we look at it. If we.feel insulted, it will be insulting. Better to look at the brighter side.
How can one watch Extraction (Netflix 2020 movie) for free online?
The very beginning and keeps you hooked to the screen with its Well-choreographed (High-Octane) Action Sequences, a Heart-Thudding Background Score and Brilliant Camera Work. The story of film looks strictly Decent.
Chris Hemsworth has been hired on a mission to Extract a boy, the kidnapped son of an Indian Drug lord, held in captive by a gangster from Bangladesh. Subsequently, as things fly off the handle, and with an armed professional behind his back, the remainder of the movie explores how Chris Hemsworth manages to protect this boy’s life while hanging on a suicide mission that manages to get deadlier every single second.
Screenplay by Joe Russo is Strictly okey as the Depth & Exciting twists in the story is missing but Director Sam Hargrave has executed Brilliantly and Delivered the full dose of Entertainment
BG Music by Henry Jackman and Alex Belcher is impactful.
Newton Thomson Nigel’s camera work amazes you by capturing the streets of Bangladesh stunningly, and the stunt scenes, especially the continuous shots during the fight sequences are highly enjoyable.
Director Sam Hargrave has really gone out of the way to capture some shots we haven’t seen on this scale in a long time.
Chris Hemsworth, who stood out throughout the film and Delivered outstanding Performance.Randeep Hooda too succeeds to steal the show with his spectacular performance. Rudhraksh as Ovi does justice to his role. Pankaj Tripathi and Priyanshu Painyuli get little to do.
Is it worth your time on Netflix?
The much-awaited Netflix film extraction starring Chris Hemsworth and lead role is here the movie had me really excited for several reasons the stunt coordinator Sam Hargrave. who is worked in films like endgame infinity war Ragnarok and atomic blond. gets to sit in the director’s chair and create an action film produces the most popular MCU films back this project the film features.
some of the most talented Hindi film industry stars including Randeep Hudda
and Pankaj Tripathi. I mean what’s that and I’ll get excited about the film which is based on the graphic novel cheer dad written by Andy Parkes.
Focuses on Tyler a black market mercenary who takes up the case of rescuing the son of an imprisoned drug lord from Dhaka and bring him back to India but how several factions including enemies competitors. weapon dealers and the police won their piece of the pie by holding the child ransom mainly following orders for a price leads to Rick’s mission getting 10 times more difficult.
here’s me telling you the good and bad aspects of the film so that you guys can ultimately decide whether this movie is worth your time on Netflix or not?.
This film is absolutely amazing…… Being an action movie, it’s very emotional too and there are scenes where you just can’t control your emotions. The actions depicted in the movie are mind blowing and you get everything you would expect from a good action film.
As always Chris’ acting was flawless and you will really love his new avatar, okay not just Chris, but every single actor did their best. The classic Bollywood songs played in between the movie are really great and gives it an Indian touch. However, the story could have been a little better in terms of logic but nonetheless I personally liked this movie very much.
Final Verdict –
Grab some snacks and prepare yourself for a thrill-a-minute. Extraction is a power-packed Action thriller that shouldn’t be missed a Massive Treat for an Action Lovers.
Just go for this movie, take my word for it; You will not get bored.
Thanks for reading my review so patiently, hope you like it 🙂
